Captain Beatty says, “A book is a
loaded gun in the house next door...Who knows who might be the target of the
well-read man?” I believe by the quote
captain Beatty says he is giving books a lot of power, almost like they see
books as a threat that’s why they ban and burn them. Books have a lot of power
because it has powerful knowledge. One reason why I think their society thinks
its easier to ban books than to learn is because they are lazy and don’t have
the ability to learn something new. Another reason is because they are so use
to the process of discouraging books, banning and burning them that they never
gave it a chance. They think it’s easier to ban books than to just think! When its
really the other way around. I cannot
see this happening to our world because we have the ability to think, teach and
learn. And sometimes we don’t even ready books to learn and study some read
them for fun. If this were to happen to our world I think it would change how
people look at life, all that reading learning and teaching for nothing. Captain
Beatty’s society is negative; they don’t give new things a chance even if it’s
for the better. Our society is way more positive than theirs.
