I don’t think that friends
nor family have the right to choose or tell me who my lover would be, and
suggestion’s, I think maybe they can suggest but that’s it, cause maybe who
they suggest is a real good person and maybe she would be my type but if I’m
already in a relationship and they don’t like her and suggest someone else, no.
I think that I should be able to choose freely, and show to my family and
friends that “this” is whom I’m marrying. Society has changed massively about
marriage, because back “then”; fathers would force the men to marry the
daughters if they got pregnant or something which was called “Shotgun
marriage”. Also fathers could choose who their daughters would marry, even if
they haven’t seen them before, and now woman and men have the right to choose
who ever they feel is the right one to marry.
No my family nor my friends play a role in who I love, a mean they’ll
have opinions but they shouldn’t because they have their own life and should
pay more attention on who they are going to love and not who I love.

If I was in Charlie shoes it would be a really hard choose
for me to make because I would also be really tired of being made fun of and
not being smart but at the same time wouldn’t really care because I wouldn’t be
a shame of who I am and I wouldn’t change my self or doing anything to me just
because of other people because I know im not the only person like that or have
the same problem’s but I would choose not to take that offer because like I
said I didn’t come to this world to change anything of me or just do something
because of people making fun of me . I would be good of how I am and I wouldn’t
change for anybody. Even though I wouldn’t be any smarter I know there is a lot
more ways to be smart. The benefits of taking the offer would be good in some
ways because you would be smarter, understand more things and be able to do
more things you never could do and will most of all school would be easier then
it use to be .the risk would be really bad because in this case their would be
a lot of risk your taking because their could be a lot of things that could go
wrong and just wouldn’t come out right.

Strikes - Yesenia Villarreal
On for Strikes
What is a ‘strike’? To start off, let
me explain to you my own definition, a strike is to act in an opposed way
physically and verbally for something, for your own reason usually dealing with
how one handles things. To pick an argument or violence to express how you feel
about that ‘something’ you’re against. But a ‘strike’ in the dictionary found
online: (http://www.investorwords.com/5807/strike.html). Investorwords. Web.
May 18, 2012. This site has displayed their meaning of a Strike: “A work
stoppage undertaken in support of a bargaining position or in protest of some
aspect of a previous agreement or proposed agreement between labor and
management.”
As for strikes, one of the very first
was The Bread and Roses Strike of 1912. It all began February 24th,
1912 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. “It was day 44, the largest, most violent,
textile labor strike in America” (Baker,
Julie. The Bread and Roses strike of 1912. M. Reynolds Pub., 2007. 160 pages. Print.) which
came from the book. These were people fighting in many races, some immigrants
and some children. They fought for their jobs that wouldn’t give them enough
pay to feed their children, that they were always risking their life without
any coverage, no insurance of anything but little pay in the end for nothing.
Some of the children were taken away and arrested during the strike; it was a
saying against life itself and how Massachusetts ran things.
Over the years I believe almost
everyone in history has at least argued or fought for something in some sort of
active way. Three people to talk about would be one, John F. Kennedy. I’d like
to talk about him and how he represented his way of a ‘fight’ during his
presidency time. In the Introduction to John F. Kennedy, it has been explained
that his public service as a PT-boat commander happened around the WWII. (Kennedy, Caroline. Profiles in Courage. HarperCollins, 2006. 304 pages. Print.)
Kennedy, had inspirations for serving and doing what he considered was
right for this country, this all had started out with a passion for history and
led him to want to do right according to the book (Kennedy, Caroline. Profiles in Courage. HarperCollins, 2006. 304 pages. Print.)
Becoming early as president Kennedy, came representing himself with brilliant
speeches. One speech of equality compared to dealing with people of color. “…In
short, he cannot enjoy the full and free life which all of us want, he who
among us would be content to have the color of his change and stand in his
place?” appeared in (Kennedy,
Caroline. Profiles in Courage.
HarperCollins, 2006. 304 pages. Print.) He was a president open to
anything, knowing how they would turn out but, he did what was right. After his
death, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed. But even before, he went on
fighting for everyone’s rights. Speaking for anyone who couldn’t. He was a man
of equality and changing what was wrong to right. It wasn’t so much as a strike
to what he had to say but what he did and said, was out and in the open. He was
a leader; not fighting for himself but for all that was with him as he served
the country during his years.
This second person was also one for
equality or for people of color. A man who grew up on everything he felt like
he had to fight for or felt like he had to rebel against reality. Malcolm X
grew up with almost nothing and a bit of education. Also a small part of
inspiration from reality. Malcolm had made some bad decisions when rebelling
and dealing with the law. He was considered a criminal before any of his
arguing and being opposed to what reality was during the time and opposed to
accept any of it. In the book, The Civil Rights Movement Malcolm landed in prison for burglary for eight to
ten years during his ‘criminal’ times. In prison reality hit him hard, he
realized all the things happening around him to blacks while reading. He read
and debated all the time spent in prison he explained, “In every free moment I
had, if I wasn’t reading in the library, I was reading on my bunk. You couldn’t
have gotten me out of books with a wedge.” And then stated “It was also in
prison that Malcolm developed his debating skills.” From (Green, Jr., Harold E. Cheatham The American Civil Rights Movement: A
Documentary History.
Manchester University Press, 2010. 224 pages. Print.) Malcolm was let
out of prison and became minister in 1952 of the Nation of Islam, as a
recruiter and an apologist. Malcolm wanted to create violence with the help of
Black Muslims. He created two hostile camps, for each day their task was to
violently disobey anything against whites; as said in Malcolm and the Black
Muslims that “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is
but a whisper, the new power of bid of Malcolm X is welcome news.” (Green, Jr., Harold E. Cheatham The American Civil Rights Movement: A
Documentary History.
Manchester University Press, 2010. 224 pages. Print.) Malcolm did everything he could do in
his power to try with whites. It was almost revenge that he wanted. He was then
kicked out by Elijah Muhammad going against what Elijah had to say and so
Malcolm wanted to join the Civil Rights Movement. He quotes on Dr. King that
“Dr. King wants the same I want … Freedom.” (Green,
Jr., Harold E. Cheatham The
American Civil Rights Movement: A Documentary History. Manchester University Press, 2010. 224
pages. Print.) Malcolm
Little, known as ‘Malcolm X’ fought for blacks or went against reality during
the time and this is what I considered a strike. This man fought for blacks,
for his freedom and theirs.
Freedom is a special word that many
people didn’t get to have. Groups like African Americans and women especially
were thought of only to work for people, be owned. They didn’t have rights to
themselves. “Women, we might as well be dogs baying the moon as petitioners without
the right to vote.” (Susan Brownell Anthony. susanb.htm. Lake Wood Public
Library, 23 05 2012. Web. 23 May 2012) As my final person, Susan B. Anthony was
raised in a family that believed that everyone should be treated equally,
including women. Her parents and her sister signed “The Declaration of
Sentiments” which expressed that men and women should be treated equally. This
is what Susan was raised to think and while growing up she began to fight for
freedom and woman’s rights. “I declare to you that woman must not depend upon
the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take
my stand.” (Susan Brownell Anthony. susanb.htm. Lake Wood Public Library, 23 05
2012. Web. 23 May 2012.) Susan started the “National Woman's Suffrage Association”
in 1869. She protested for women’s rights for year after year, writing books,
organizing movements, and getting word out to people until her death in 1906.
Tying all of these people and what they
fought for brought many solutions. Brought rights and acts, and inspirations to
the upcoming fighters and debaters. Many of these situations were more or less
resolved and still faced as of today. Without all the striking, protesting,
arguing that had happened previously had a big impact. All the famous strikers
gave muse to those who have the motivation to fight and speak for what they
want. I believe economic wise we will always have to face issues but in order
to fix anything, things have to be said and done. My definition of what a
strike is, is to fight against or fight and give a say. This was my research
and work based upon strikes.

I think Napoleon is like in a way
like Hitler because he tricked the animals
By making them revolt and supposedly sending them off to
start their own farm but he
Always knew what he would end up doing in his head all
though he kept it to him self. And in the end when they finally had the animal
farm he waited awhile to take power but he had already set the roll that him
being the pig he was superior then the others like Hitler had established that
his kind and only his were the ones who should be on top. But out of the
animals snowball always knew he was up to something she tried to warn others
but they wouldn’t pay attention and in the end like Hitler did with the people
he didn’t like napoleon had snowball thrown out the farm and he started to make
more moves in his farm he took the dogs puppies and like Hitler did napoleon
had his little army with the puppies his had them attack animals to show what
would happen to the ones who would make the choice to go against him but
napoleon ended up killing animals and when he did these acts his excuse would
be that they were working with the humans so that the other animals would have
to see that what he was doing was right but they were just lies so that he
could only get bigger and bigger
Blog 3, Abraham Perez
Q 1. How do the changing rules of the pigs compare to the
changing of laws to meet the specific needs of the their makers?
The changing of rules and laws can cause havoc to any
society or ethnic group with an established government. For example: If people
within a group enjoy the established laws and someone changes them and makes
the laws appealing only to the ones in control, I would think it would cause a
bit of a problem with just about everyone. If a public service were created for
everyone to use, hence the public, wouldn’t it be a smart to keep it? And not
only offer it to the children or families of the rich. As an honest citizen, I
would really like to talk to the people who come up with the ideas to change
current laws and not giving me crap like, “It’s in the service of the people”
or “We only use are time and effort for the well being of others”, when it is
obvious that they are only doing it for themselves for now and the long run.
Q 2. Why do many politicians seem to only care about
something when it affects them? How does
this compare the pigs changing of the commandments on the farm?
For their own personal well-being, Politicians are just like
everyone else in this world; doing their best to survive, even if it means by
ruining the life of others. If a certain law doesn’t seem to fit a criteria that
they don’t like they change it when people aren’t looking and wipe their hands
clean with the media to explain why. To be frank, they run on the same simple
drive as everyone else: to keep themselves alive. No matter who they step on
and crush towards the ground.

. Can
you relate to not having equal rights because of who you are or your skin
color?
I don’t think
I really relate to not having equal rights, but the only thing I can say about
the this, is that I don’t think its fair how they have the law in Arizona about
Mexican people, that if they get stopped or even if they are walking they ask
for if they have papers and if they don’t they take them, and every time I would
watch the news it would talk about how Mexican Families would get separated from
each other because the parents came here illegally, and the kids were from here
and the parents had to leave cause they got send back to Mexico, I think that
sometimes people treat Mexican people bad, im not going to say that we are
innocent people cause we are not but I think there is certain people that came
here for a better education they work really hard in school they are not
trouble makers and once they graduate they try to go to college, and after that
get a good job but they cant cause they don’t have papers, I think the government
should actually help those kids that are here to learn the ones that want a
good life, those are the ones that deserve to actually be here , not the ones
that are here selling drugs like no those can leave.

What freedoms do we take for granted in the United States? Do you think we have too much freedom? What freedoms cause problems?
The freedom we take for granted I think is that in the
United States they let us drive at a young age. I think that parents don’t have
much freedom but they can do things that us teenagers can. The bad thing about
being a parent is that they have to work just so they would be able to pay the
bills and buy food for the family and if they have a baby, they have to buy
them diapers and milk and stuff like that and do all things like that so I
wouldn’t say that parents so much freedom, but they also have different freedom
that us teenagers don’t have. But us teenagers have a lot of freedom, we might
have school and a job but we don’t go to school all day we have freedom when we
get out and on the weekends we can pretty much do whatever we want and if we
work we lose some of that freedom. But when we get paid, its not like we have
to pay the bills or anything like that. So I guess I would say us teenagers
have a lot of freedom but we don’t have the type of freedom parents have. The
type of freedom I think that causes problems is for parents letting teenagers
drive at a very young age. I’m not saying that they shouldn’t let us drive, but
I think we should drive during the day to go to school or work or even to the
store but I think we shouldn’t drive during the weekends to go to party’s and
stuff like that because their has been a lot of drunk drive accident’s by
adults and us teenagers pay the price for being out so late driving. I just
think we have a little to much, I think that sometimes its good to not have that
much freedom because it can stop bad things from happening.
