"...You didn't have any rights." - Yesenia Villarreal

“Think about a time when you felt you didn’t have any rights. Does it compare to what the animals are going through?” (Carlton Sauls)
To answer this question, there has been many times in my life where I felt like I didn’t have any rights. At one point I felt like I had no rights in playing Basketball back in my middle school years. The reason as to why that is, is ‘cause when I played the sport during Physical Education, some boys in the class would be disrespectful to call me names and say ‘You can’t play Basketball ‘cause you’re a girl!’ This type of issue makes me feel like not everyone is equal almost as if, some humans were ranked higher than other or are labeled. Sexist, is one of these problems that can make anyone feel like they do not own any rights. Another time where I felt like I had no rights was because of my age. I was discriminated ‘cause of my age. I believe everyone is today. You have to be a certain age to get your Driver’s Permit. You have to be a certain age to get into some clubs. You have to be a certain age to buy alcohol or smoke and buy tobacco or cigarettes. Everyone is discriminated and I’m not sure if many people realize this. I have experienced this when trying to get into a club. I was supposedly not old enough to enter but I had been before and if it wasn’t ‘cause of my age then it was something else. All these plots doesn’t really compare to what the animals are going through because I’d actually say that they might have it worse than us humans. We have a somewhat more say than they animals do and can easily see the logic issues to give the reasons.

What would life be like without any enforced rules or laws (Ricardo)

What would life be like if we did not have any rules or laws. That we didn't have to listen to nobody or do anything we didn't want to. I believe that if there is no such thinks as laws and rule we would be attacking each other we would also be killing each other and act like its no big deal because we wouldn't know any better because that would just be a part of life for us. So pretty much it would be a every one for them selves world. Also we wouldn't be educated because if we don't have any rule to that forces us to go to school more than likely no body would go so they wouldn't be able to read and write also we would barley know how to actually talk because you learn speech through school. without enforced laws and rule we would all be acting like cave men. The world would be a totally different place compared to how it is know. With rules and laws earth is a much better place with rules and laws it make it more equal and more discipline. And with laws there is less violence and less crazy people in the streets.

Does Freedom Cause problems

I think we take a lot of freedom in the United States of America for granted, for example the safety that come with living in this country . I do not think we realize how bad other countries are compared to the US. Some places in the world like Uganda, Africa were kids suffer as their parents get murdered in front of them by rebels. Meanwhile, in the United States most kids only have to worry about what video game they’re going to buy next.

While freedom is a good thing, it comes with responsibilities. Everyone is free to do what they choose but it is up to you to make it good or bad. For example most professional athletes were born and raised just like everyone else but they chose to use the freedom they were given in this country to do great things threw hard work and dedication. Great doesn’t just happen. Great goes the extra mile. Even though these opportunity are given to a lot of people in America some people decide to let that opportunity pass and they just slack off in life and whatever they do.

So that is why I believe that freedom can cause problems to some people and it cant cause problems to others. It is up to you how you use your freedom and what do you want to do with it

No Laws (Rebecca)

What would life be like without any enforced rules or laws

If life would not have any enforced rules or laws then everyone would want to do what ever they want, for example if someone is driving then they decide not to make the stop at a stop sign then they would cause an accident; Also there would be no one to blame too because there’s no laws that tell you that you have to stop. It could get even worse. If someone goes off to kill someone and there would be no law then who is going to make justice for the dead person or even the family members, if this world didn’t have any laws there would be a lot of people that deserve justice, people that do the best, Then other people come along and mess it all up and that’s where the laws should come in, people in this world need justice. People in this world need to be saved from other people that don’t even deserve to have a life. If there were no justice I would not call the life ‘life’. The same thing goes for school, if we didn’t have rules to be followed the students would always get their way of doing whatever and it would be chaotic. They would like to do what ever they want in store but the worst thing they would to going to school and there would be no one who can stop them from doing that. Students would be no life if they would be no laws or enforced rules.

Do you feel discrimination effects equal rights? (Brenda)

Do you feel discrimination effects equal rights?

Yes. I feel discrimination effects equal rights in plenty of ways.  Discrimination affects people in many ways and equal rights are one of them. People may feel certain people don’t deserve certain things because of who they are or where they come from. Not only this but some people and companies don’t allow certain things because of how much you earn and all you’re other financial stuff and or situation.  I don’t think its right to be discriminated against and much less for that to affect your equal rights. Everybody is equal and should be treated that way. Many people don’t think it’s fair for certain people to get treated a special way while others don’t get that special treatment or are treated badly because of who they are. I believe those who know where they come from and appreciate all they have and don’t discriminate against others will be the ones to make it far in life.  Equal rights aren’t only affected by discrimination but I feel it is one of the biggest mistakes and a thing that affects people’s equal rights. Equal rights being affected by discrimination has been around forever. In the past women would be discriminated against and weren’t able to do certain things until women fought for what they believed in. Now a days discrimination affecting equal rights is much different then in the past but is it still something that must be changed.

Life with no Laws (Brenda)

Life without enforced laws and rules would be very different. Nothing would be the same as it is now a days. There would be a lot more violence and a lot more people in jail and or the hospital. Without any laws people would always be fighting and arguing over little things this will cause people to get hurt not only physically but maybe even mentally. The world would be a different place without any laws or rules. Things you never imagined would happen. People will do as they please whenever and wherever they feel the need to. Enforced laws and rules help keep this world organized and in the condition it’s in. If things are bad now imagine how it would be without there being enforced laws and rules and nobody to follow them. Life without enforced laws will change this world we live in not for the good but for the bad.  No enforced laws or rules give everyone the power to do whatever they want and unfortunately most people wont do good things to this world. There are more people out there wiling to change this world for the bad then for the good. This is not only young people but also old people. Without any rules to follow anybody and everybody will do as the please.

Equality (Juawan)

If we all were equal, this nation and even the world would be such a better and much safer place to live and succeed on. If we all had equality their wouldn’t be any racism, discrimination, nor wars no matter civil or national. Being equal means we all would be one and show unity towards each other, which would make us better people because you would treat people how you would want to be treated. If we were all equal are religion, race, money we make, or even politics wouldn’t matter because they would make us who we are to everyone else. But when it comes to money being made its wrong for a high paid position or career to get paid as much as a lower paid person or vice-versa. And in the U.S. I feel we have more than enough rights, we are very blessed to have so many laws in our favor knowing that many other countries don’t have as much leeway as we do. The laws we have here are made for a reason even though some might be taken for granted or used in a negative way not to better society. I would be great if people saw each other as equal to one another it would take away a lot of hate and confusion out of peoples lives. If we all were equal, this nation and even the world would be such a better and much safer place to live and succeed on.
