He is giving the books the power
to make the person read it so he can go tell someone about it and then obviously
their going to catch the person and burn the books and the person. I think
their society decided to ban books because 50% of them were based on the real
life/past/history, and some other 50% was based on non existent things and was
all fantasy. I guess they thought that a lot of people were starting to
actually think about fantasy and start to believe it since it seemed so real. I
know I think about the fantasy part of things, I know that they possible wont
happen but sometimes its good to think outside the box. I think they didn’t want
to teach people to think because then they would figure out the truth about
things, and because maybe some people took a longer time to understand things
so they probably thought it would be a lot of work to try and make people
understand / learn new things. I don’t think this would ever happen to our
society because we believe in one another and if someone can do it , anyone
else can do it. Plus there’s nothing bad with knowing the past of things, if
you don’t know the past of things you would never understand how hard things
were for people before and you would start taking many things for granted. What
if one day everything’s gone? You wouldn’t know what to do or how to survive.

Fate (Yesenia)
I honestly
don’t know if I believe in fate. I think
people do make their own destiny because you’re the one who chooses what you do. Your outcome is going to depend on your
choices. The outcome you get was
obviously from a choice you made. So its
like you are choosing what’s going to happen next, to you in life. Some people believe your fate/destiny is
already written down, that god wrote it all down, that you have a purpose of
being here. I believe you do have a
certain purpose of why you’re here.
Sometimes I do believe god has it already written down because you can just
feel it. Once something happens its like
after that you just have to let time pass and better things will start coming
your way. Everything happens for a
reason, good or bad. I guess the stuff you do is going to teach you a lesson. In life you’re given a test, that teaches you
a lesson. That quote is one of my
favorites, you don’t know what’s going to come your way, and you just have to
learn to get through it. I can compare
all of this to what’s happening with me right now, it makes me upset not
knowing why things have to be this way, it affects who I am and how I am a lot,
but when I think about it, I think its so I wont fall or do it again. So in my case, right now I do think this is
all happening for a reason.

Family/Friends opinion on your lover. (Yesenia)
Friends and family have the right to say their
own opinions about who your crushing on but I don’t think they have the right
to actually force you to get with the person they like. Something really similar is happening to me,
my family don’t like the person I’m with right now but they obviously cant stop
it from happening, even though they have tried to. They said once I’m old
enough if I want to be with that person, to be with them, but right now they
just want me to enjoy life. Society has definitely changed a lot over this.
Before you would be forced to be with a person they chose, no one would care
about how you feel. Now, some people still want to force, but they cant. Eventually
everyone chooses who they want to be with at some point. Family and friends do
have a play in who I love. Because they’re obviously going to have to meet him
and be around him at parties, or family reunions, or holiday’s, etc. So you don’t
want them to be bothered by their presence. They can not like them but you have
to try to show them that they aren’t the person they think they are, so they
can at least be a little more comfortable around them and with time they start
opening up.

Dream (Yesenia)
Dreams to me represent something your mind puts
together after a long day. Its Things it puts together in no random order. I
also believe dreams can be a place where people that have passed away can reach
to you; because they say that when your asleep your soul goes somewhere else. I’ve
seen a movie where a little boy is stuck in his dream and he cant wake up, if
affects his in real life because he’s dying. The power of dreams I believe is
your imagination. Imagination is what you want it to be. Your imagination can
at points be your worst enemy. It can imagine the worst, but I can also imagine
a lot of good things. Yes dreams can have an effect on reality; sometimes
dreams are like reality checks, appreciate what you have. Because unlike real
life, in your dreams something bad can happen to the people you love, and since
it was only a dream, you know nothing actually happened. It has affected me in
real life a couple of times, I’ve dreamed about my grandpa dying, or something
happening to someone I love, or even to me. It just would all depends on the
decisions you make.

"... Changing rules of the pigs compare... " - Yesenia Villarreal
“… Changing rules of the pigs compare…”
The pigs changing the commandments
compare to real life everyday. It compares because some of the animals could represent
as activist as taking matters into their own hands like some famous people from
our history during events. The pigs are like the government for the president
but mainly for themselves or the rest of the animals. The pigs decide to pass
or change laws while the president being (Napoleon) could give some options as
resolutions to them. Politicians would only care of themselves because they
would have control over what laws are being passed for the entire country. For an
example of a law would be of: “the first civil rights
law, equal rights for everyone who lived within the jurisdiction of the United
States.” This would have been located online as a reference using this
source: http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/Civil+and+political+rights
Changing those
commandments on Animal Farm so everything is set proper to work right is like having
your own business or company. It is like school regulations and if you don’t
follow them you suffer the consequences. In chapter 7 of Animal Farm, 4 pigs
decide to betray Napoleon and fess up to it. Then they suffer by being attacked
by Napoleon’s guard dogs and end as perished. Napoleon in the meantime is in
charge of Animal Farm, while the rest of the animals are set as the people.
Some of the pigs, including Squealer is his government. Lastly, Napoleon’s
police or bodyguard is the dogs. Most animals in the farm don’t speak up enough
or can’t find the words to speak and because of that the only one who makes
decisions and even decides it a good majority of the time is Napoleon. The
animals don’t have many rights as Napoleon since he decides it all. This isn’t
fair to all the other animals. It makes me think back how women weren’t treated
equally as men. Feminists had to argue and take action. “In 1919, the federal woman suffrage amendment; originally written by
Susan B. Anthony and introduced in Congress in 1878, is passed by the House of
Representatives and the Senate. It is then sent to the states for ratification.”

"...You didn't have any rights." - Yesenia Villarreal
“Think about a time when you felt you didn’t
have any rights. Does it compare to what the animals are going through?”
(Carlton Sauls)
To answer this question, there has
been many times in my life where I felt like I didn’t have any rights. At one
point I felt like I had no rights in playing Basketball back in my middle
school years. The reason as to why that is, is ‘cause when I played the sport
during Physical Education, some boys in the class would be disrespectful to
call me names and say ‘You can’t play Basketball ‘cause you’re a girl!’ This
type of issue makes me feel like not everyone is equal almost as if, some
humans were ranked higher than other or are labeled. Sexist, is one of these
problems that can make anyone feel like they do not own any rights. Another
time where I felt like I had no rights was because of my age. I was
discriminated ‘cause of my age. I believe everyone is today. You have to be a
certain age to get your Driver’s Permit. You have to be a certain age to get
into some clubs. You have to be a certain age to buy alcohol or smoke and buy
tobacco or cigarettes. Everyone is discriminated and I’m not sure if many
people realize this. I have experienced this when trying to get into a club. I
was supposedly not old enough to enter but I had been before and if it wasn’t
‘cause of my age then it was something else. All these plots doesn’t really compare
to what the animals are going through because I’d actually say that they might
have it worse than us humans. We have a somewhat more say than they animals do
and can easily see the logic issues to give the reasons.

"Is fear a good motivator?" (Yesenia)
“Is fear
a good motivator?”
Fear isn’t a ‘good’ motivator. I’m sure many
people don’t like the feeling of being in fright or at an alarming state. Fear
isn’t always a motivator but depending on the person it can really push,
turning into action. It is possible for fear to be a motivation for some in
many cases. A person can let their emotions run and get the best of them,
taking in fear would be the effect and the cause would be the actions after
going through the sentiments.
I believe for it to be possible to make anyone
do anything, if not in movement than in emotions. I’m pretty certain there are
other ways to make someone do anything other than those two examples. But,
honestly it would all depend on the person and how the person takes things in.
Another person could contemplate in the logic before they let their emotions
escape. That person would be able to control their fear seeking out only what
makes sense throughout the entire process of what they are being terrified
of. Between these two examples of two
people and how they react depends on them. There is absolutely nothing great
about feeling scared in my opinion. The kind of person I would be if someone
was trying to replace my mind with fear wouldn’t survive. I am the person to
find the logic in things and to understand rather than let my emotions head out
first. Therefore, I came to a conclusion that fear is nor a good or bad
motivator depending on how it’s being used. Also, depending on the kind of
person taking in this feeling; they can have an emotional or physical reaction
or no reaction at all.

"Fate leads? Or you make Destiny?" - Yesenia Villarreal
Personally, I don’t agree with fate coming into play. Fate will not meet
up with you; there would be no logic behind it. I think that if a person
doesn’t take things by the center, or make a drastic positive change towards
their goal in life, that person will not get anywhere and stay in place until
so. I believe ‘fate’ is possible but really I don’t believe in it physically.
Fate doesn’t actually lead you or your life. You make your own decisions and
things to reach your point or reason. For example, fate isn’t the one who helps
you ace a test. You take the time to learn, analyze, and practice to ace a
test. You would have to be dedicated to anything and be determined and willing
to do whatever it is you want. Fate will get you nowhere but only in the state
you are in now. Fate in my beliefs depends on what you are working towards. You
could graduate from an art school and try to look for a career in your field
for a specific business; all in all, probably it depends if the people in that
business for your career choose you or not. In my mind, that could be a way of
fate showing up.
As for destiny, the beauty of it is that when it appears, it’s because
of the reason behind it. Destiny contains logic. Destiny is when you try at
something physically and you receive some sort of outcome. I believe in
destiny. For an example, if you can put your foot down and stand up to speak
for yourself to others than most likely from others you are going to be
presented with responses back. These were my views on believing Fate &
Destiny.

"Seeing is Believing?" - (Yesenia)
Midsummer’s Night
Dream (Blog Topics Week 2)
“Seeing
is Believing?” (Nature, Illusions, Reality, & Imagination)
The quote “Seeing is Believing”, in my
mind is considered to be true. If I can experience it, see it, or hear it for
myself. I believe it to be true. I can also believe in almost anything as long
as I keep on believing that anything is possible and most of the time containing
some sort of logical explanation for that ‘anything’. That anything meaning it
could be real or surreal. The nature in reality is anything organic and not
man-made is said to exist. Unlike illusions, which aren’t usually real or
always false.
Illusions are important to us, knowing that a trick or an idea isn’t
true. It could ‘cause serious damage to the mind and physically become a health
issue. Damage to the mind by hearing false theories can change your beliefs on
things. You can even make wrong decisions based on the false theories you’ve
heard. It could also hurt your health, in example, you have heard a theory or a
saying that you can lose weight if you stop eating sugary foods. That is a false idea, if you don’t have some sugars every other day, you will
crave it ten times more when you don’t have any so really you’d be gaining that
weight rather than losing it. Even though illusions are usually a bad thing, it
still is needed in our lives. Illusions are what make us help create sometimes
major decisions. Illusions are what also make us find out information to
correct an idea that’s untrue. Not having illusions would make everything seem
like it’s too good, or too good to be true that is.
Sometimes in relationships, things do seem like it’s too good to be
true. It could be just your imagination that a love relationship is good. In your
mind you could receive an idea that your relationship with someone is flawless
just because you two as a couple have never argued. You could get an idea that
your partner has huge money ‘cause they’re always spending it on you. Your
romance is probably about 50% of your imagination and everything in your
relationship that makes it seem like it’s this and that (Good/perfect/bad). You
can get any idea from your imagination and romance, but in the end you will
never really know what’s true and what’s not.

"Dreams" - Yesenia Villarreal
Midsummer’s Night
Dream (Blog Topics Week 1)
In my POV, I believe dreams
represent a lot of things, even people, déjà vu, places, and experiences.
Dreams can represent contemplation, major issues, decisions, nightmares, and the
past. I don’t dream often; most of my dreams are about everything listed up
above. My dreams usually foreshadow in reality. The power of having ‘dreams’ is
that no matter what you dream of, you can’t control it. Whether you dream of
something surreal as to being a superhero compared to a reality dream with
yourself to a recurring event in every day
life, you have no power of your dreams. Your dreams however can have control or power over you. I
have had several dreams where the outcome in reality was true and did happen. I
have also had several surrealistic dreams that could’ve been horror films. I
have had a dream about 2 or 3 years ago where I was in a room with no windows,
or doors, absolutely nothing. It was an empty room. Everything was completely
boxed in and I was standing in the center of the room. It was pretty dark and
everything in the entire room had a hint of a brownish color. I was holding a
globe, in front of the globe was facing North America. Sound was missing.
Everything stood still, even myself. As I was holding the globe, I placed my
left hand on the top of it and start to turn it downwards. As I did this the
room started to shake like an earthquake and parts of the ceiling had started
to crack and fall onto the floor and then, I realized that the world was
falling. Not, just North America but every continent and even its islands. I
started to fall forwards and onto the floor while holding the globe and I was
screaming for help. No one could hear me but me. I woke up screaming. I was having an unforgettable nightmare
that represented the End of The World, 2012. Now 3 years later, we are in the
year 2012. Being aware of everyone who thinks the world will end this year, is
terrifying. I don’t believe in it. The dream related to ‘2012’ was
surrealistic, it hasn’t happened. A lot of questions come to mind about this
dream even today, so many things don’t add up to a logical explanation. But
yes, many of my dreams relate to actual life. Most of them foreshadow, but not
all.
