Blog 2: Can you relate to not having equal rights because of who you are or your skin color?

Question: Can you relate to not having equal rights because of who you are or your skin color?

I can’t relate, well, not yet anyhow. As long as I can remember I was given a fair chance in every thing I’ve done: School, Sports, Activities, friends, and with the church community I was with.

I was always given a fair chance, unlike some of my other friends and people I’ve met. I usually am given a chance for many things but others get told that they can’t because of their race or ethnic group. People in the U.S. try and play the race card on others so they won’t do something, I’m Mexican but I was born here in the United States, sure there are privileges I get over others from my race but I never complained about it because I know I have it easier then others.

A lot of people get into trouble because they don’t have equal rights; it isn’t fair because we are supposed to be in a “Free Country” but that doesn’t stop employers, companies and the government from rounding up people and accusing them of actions they didn’t commit.

All in all, I can honestly say that I haven’t been exposed to unequal rights and threated because of my race, and I’m fine with it because I know the more I follow the rules and laws the easier it should be for me to get by without being threated of having no rights.
