Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind (Velia)

Helena says, “Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.” (I, I, 234- 235)

This means one should not be with someone based on their good looks or how attractive they are but rather be with some one because of their personality. This is true in many ways, if you are with some one for their looks, you are in love with their looks and not the person they are. Some attractive people have some of the worst personalities you can ever have, because of their good looks they tend to take advantage of people because they are used to getting anyone they want. If you are with them you may not be happy with them and will later regret it and most likely it will not work out. Rather, if you choose to be with someone because of their personality is much better. You fall in love with who they really are and look beyond their looks and see their inside. You are more likely to be come comfortable with this person and have a long and happy relationship. Looks are not everything and you will also have to remember that looks fade over time, and when that happens what will you be left with? I am not saying to get the most hideous person out there and expect you to be happy with him or her but get some one you are comfortable around. Some one who makes you fall in love with who they are instead of how they look. You will be more than happy with yourself and your loved one.
