F451 & Irony (Kara)

Irony means the expression of one’s meaning y using language that normally signifies the opposite typically for humorous or emphatic effect. Meaning the opposite of what someone says, for an example you walk outside and its sorting and someone says “oh what a beautiful day” is the opposite of what you said which is irony. In the book Fahrenheit 451 it is the firemen’s job or motivation is to burn books it’s the law. Although it’s the law to burn books some characters in the book such as Captain Beatty and Guy Montag doesn’t. To me it is to burn specific books as captain Beatty mentioned that colored people didn’t like a book “burn it” white people didn’t like a book “burn it” but even though its specific books I don’t think any books exists in their society.  I believe that it is irony people having motivation to burn books because one of the books the fireman was supposed to burn Montag stole it he did the opposite of what he was supposed to do. Also with the old lady she know it’s the law not to have or own a book but she does the opposite and keep the books and also die and burn away with the books. I think Montag finds his motivation in a book and the book he find it in is “The Hidden Book”.
