I don’t think
family nor friends have anything to do with persons personal love life therefor shouldn’t get in the way. They might not know how you get treated or your
feelings towards the person. They could suggest
people and maybe go out on dates and get to know each other, but they shouldn’t
make you or force you to marry his/her if you have no feeling towards them. Plus,
sometimes you're not even able to know who your getting married, you meet your
wife/husband the same day as your wedding.
Our society has
changed a lot since the play's time, you get to pick who you want to be with and
marry. Now, people get together because they love each other and they are not
forced to do anything. Their parents can’t really say anything about it and get
in the way. You get married for liking
the person not for what they have; the couple always tries to succeed even if
they don’t have much.
When I have a
boyfriend, my parents don’t ever say anything or get in the way. Some
friends do, maybe because its jealousy or for my own good, I’m not sure. I don’t
think about it much at the moment because I’m not planning to get married. If
my parents were to choose who I had to marry I would just disappear, because I
wouldn’t like for them to pick someone I’m going to be stuck with all my life.
